Page 8. 1901 Pan American Exposition: In 1901, the city administrators of Buffalo, New York found themselves at the headwaters of a new electrical age in America. The idea of the Pan-American Exposition came to be in 1901, only six years after the activation and distribution of electricity from the Edward Dean Adams Power plant. This ( AC ) power source was located only 22 miles from the proposed exhibition site and would supply much of the electrical-energy to create the ‘ CITY OF LIGHT ” .
